Eighteen Hours - All The Same
Hertfordshire, I believe, is in East England somewhere. At least that is what the Wikipedia told me so I am probably wrong and for all I know Hertfordshire could be the name of a crater on Mars. But that is beside the point, although wherever it is I do wish I lived there at the moment because that would mean that I would have a much better chance of seeing Eighteen Hours live because as well as hailing from Hertfordshire, Eighteen Hours are also a rock band, and a pretty good rock band too.
Consisting of two Dan’s, a Dave, a Matt and a Simon they play hard rock with a modern edge and just the right amount of attitude, too little would be boring and too much is just sad and embarrassing, but they manage to keep a good balance. By combining that with musical talent they manage to create a rock sound that is cool, authentic and original with out looking like a bunch of clichéd 80’s throwbacks.
Distorted and gritty guitars lay down hard and heavy riffs over powerful, pounding drums and fat, chunky bass. The raw, energetic and aggressive vocals, top off the mix giving the music a rough edge, combining perfectly with the sound produced by the rest of the band and providing a fair share of the attitude that I was talking about earlier. Every word he sings in this song sound like he is telling someone to fuck off.
I love the rhythm of this song, it makes you want to start moving and when a song can move you physically rather than just emotionally the experience is fantastic. And it’s not just the rhythm that’s catchy, lyrics are to and if you listen to this song a few times over you will find yourself singing along to the chorus without even realising it.
This is a great song and I’m sure that if you are a fan of good rock music you will enjoy it as well as the other songs that Eighteen Hours have to offer. A few of their tracks, including this one, are available for free download from their website, the link is below so have a look and a listen.
