Tasha Fights Tigers - Circus Stomp

tasha-fights-tigersTasha Fights Tigers are an experimental band from somewhere in the UK that play cool music and make bizarre, slightly disturbing but very entertaining videos.

The song I am reviewing today is called Circus Stomp and the video that accompanies it is a circus inspired, clown infested spectacle that is both bizarre and entertaining, yet a little lacking in the disturbing qualities which seem to saturate the two other Tasha Fights Tigers videos that I have watched.

It features a bunch of people dancing around dressed as clowns and circus performers, spinning camera work, a cool red and white background and mime armed with a sedge hammer.

The song itself is great. It has a strong and heavy beat which steadily thumps it’s way through the song like the footsteps of an elephant, and the sound of the drums combined with the low end from the bass contrasts fantastically with the effect laden lead guitar, which sounds like a mad eunuch on helium (in a good way, of course).

The vocals have a bit of roughness which sounds cool without sounding ridiculously fake, and they blend nicely with the raw and dirty rhythm guitar.

All these things work together to make Circus Stomp an instantly memorable and completely replayable song. One of the best things about this band, apart from the music, is that they obviously don’t take themselves too seriously, which is something I love because I think there is nothing worse than bands who take themselves too seriously.

Tasha Fights Tigers: great songs, great videos, strange name (but in a good way, of course).
