The Bleachers - Build an Army

The Bleachers are three piece band that play a slightly unorthodox style of rock music. They are from Las Vegas which puts them at 5135 miles away from my base of operations in Cardiff, a fact that I think quite wonderfully shows the awesome power of the internet.

That a small unsigned band can come to the attention of a small independent journalist half a continent and a whole ocean away, by means of a free social networking account is a fantastically funky fortuity.

Their music is a quirky and slightly spooky but nonetheless colourful, captivating and pleasing to the ears.

Build an Army is a track the exemplifies those qualities, a catchy drum beat and bass groove with the guitar adding overtones of melodic colour and the vocals ever so slightly haunting the listener.

If I ever visit Las Vegas I would definitely go to one of their gigs. I believe that all music is written to be heard live, or at least it should be. Music, when performed live with talent, passion and energy evokes so many more emotions than it can when it is coming out of your headphones.
