The Firebrand - As The Credits Roll

The FirebrandThe Firebrand are a grungy rock band from Aberdare. They formed in 2006, started laying some gigs and released their debut EP ‘Nervous Disposition’. In 2007 they released their first and only single ‘The Morning After’ which charted at 197. Then the band went to work on a new EP but for some reason they split.

But now, after two years, they’re back.

I always loved their music, with ‘Hurricane’ being one of my favourite tracks of any band, and the first time I heard it I thought it would be a done deal. Fame and fortune were in the bag, but as I have already said it didn’t work out like that.

The good thing about them is that they have an ability for writing songs that are both catchy and highly sellable without sounding like most of the commercial pop crap.

As the Credits Roll is a perfect example of this. The cool, catchy drum beat, thundering bass groove and driving, distorted rock guitar riffs all combine to create an awesome tune played with great energy and passion.

I for one am glad to see them back together, and with a new 13 song album due at the end of the month and a comeback gig in November I am predicting good musical times in the near future, and I can’t wait to see and hear what is to come.
