Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson - Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

Miles Benjamin Anthony RobinsonI discovered Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson randomly whilst wandering around on the Internet one day and, as I thought he was pretty good, I decided to randomly write a review of his album which is also called Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson.

I think the first thing that drew me to him was his name, which contains an impressive ten syllables, that’s seven more than Madonna and nine more than Sting and helps to point out the downside to having a only one name.

After listening to his song “Buriedfed” several times on MySpace I decided to download the whole album and after listening to that I decided to write this.

His eponymous début has some of the coolest cover art I have seen in a long time, I’m not quite sure why the dead monkey (I think it’s a monkey, but it could be a really short and slightly deformed person) has an umbrella or a fan, it’s probably something to do with some deep hidden meaning buried somewhere in the lyrical content of the songs that I am both too lazy to find and too shallow to understand even if I did manage to find it. But it looks cool so I’m happy.

The album has a sombre feel to it with murmured, pensive lyrics and music which is played with a melancholic passion, both of which combined create a dark, compelling and powerful atmosphere.

Like the cover art the music is cool, and a refreshing change to the stuff I normally listen to, and since I believe that it is good for everyone to try new things I would recommend people to check it out, the link to his MySpace page is below. It’s not going to cost you anything, just a couple of minutes, and you may just discover that you like it too.

While you’re there don’t forget to watch the video of Buriedfed, it’s quite bizarre.
